Frequently Asked Questions

Questioning Event Character Tea Party MissWhy have a character at your event?

Character events boost memorability, connection, and smiles–is there any event host that doesn’t want those? Whether you’re a small business, nonprofit, community partner, or any children’s/family event host, characters are a great way to create a memorable connection with your guests and clients; they’ll take away photos and joyful, unforgettable memories.

Also, it’s just magical.

What’s the process for booking a character event?

Step 1: Send us an inquiry here with your package/event ideas, date, time, and event location. Please note we cannot accept bookings less than a month in advance, and entire seasons can book up quickly, so please plan well in advance.

Step 2: Receive your quote, which will include:

  • Your character package price
  • Prices for any add-ons (extra characters, bonus activities, additional time, photo props, etc.)
  • Travel fees if applicable (typically applies for travel over 15 miles from our Hudson, WI or Woodbury, MN bases)

Step 3: Officially book your event

  • Confirm your quote to receive your contract and invoice
  • Pay a non-refundable retainer of fifty percent of your total to hold the date and time
  • Read, sign, and return your contract

Do your characters come to birthday parties?

Yes, BUT not in private homes, and ONLY with our specialized performance packages such as storytimes, Royal Balls, or Superhero Training, for over-the-top, unique themed celebrations. For more traditional, low-key birthday services we refer to other local companies. See Private Events for more details.

What area do you serve?

We serve the Twin Cities area, greater Minnesota, and Western Wisconsin, and are based in Woodbury, MN and Hudson, WI.

We love to bring magic close to home and work with local businesses and events, so we’re most often found in the Eastern Twin Cities, including Woodbury, Stillwater, Hudson, and the surrounding areas.

We do travel, but for performances that are over 15 miles from our Woodbury or Hudson bases we include a travel fee to account for cast time and mileage. Contact us for an estimate.

What characters do you have?

We offer over 100 different characters, from seasonal characters like the Spring / Easter Bunny to princesses, superheroes, pirates, mermaids, all manner of favorite storybook characters, and more!

You can find photos and more on our character pages

What kind of character event entertainment packages do you offer? Who are they for?

We specialize in public events, and have many packages to fit whatever your character event vision might be. Here are some highlights:

Meet and Greets: These character interactions and photo ops are great for just about any family event. Choose your number of characters and length of time.

Storytimes: Preschools, libraries, and other children’s event hosts love our interactive storytime performances and the bonus photo ops.

Interactive Performances: Superhero Training, Royal Balls, and custom events for large scale events, Community Ed, Parks and Rec, and all manner of family event hosts.

How do you ensure safety at your character events?

Safety for event guests and our cast is our top priority. Not only are all of our cast background checked, but they are also trained in safety and liability specific to the unique work we do. We never send characters out alone: they will always be accompanied by a trained Magic Maker attendant. You can rest easy knowing our professional performers and attendants are not going to let things get out of hand. Read more here!

What events do you have coming up?

You can find our upcoming character appearances in the Upcoming Events section of our monthly email (be sure to sign up for our email list) and often on our Facebook page as well.

We’re hired regularly for appearances and storytimes, and these are often FREE to the public as part of open houses, community celebrations, library events, and more.

What if there’s bad weather on our event day?

We want to make sure everyone is safe and that your event can be a success. We’ll work with you to find a mutually-agreeable time to reschedule in the case of bad weather or other force of nature.

How do I join your cast?

We look for cast members who are over age 18, are responsible and reliable, and who love working with kids and spreading smiles. If you or someone you know would be a great fit, check out our online casting form.
